Coloured Towel Rags 15kg

Heavy duty terry towelling for cleaners, trades and concrete crews.

Sam’s Rags has been supplying Australian trades and cleaning businesses with recycled cotton rags since 1980, and our coloured towel rags are one of the toughest options in the range. Cut from recycled bath towels, bath mats and other terry cotton, each 15kg bag gives you a heavier, more absorbent cloth than a standard cotton rag, built for jobs that go through liquid fast.
Terry towelling is woven with hundreds of small loops instead of a flat weave, and those loops are what make it grab onto water, oil and grease so well. It’s the same reason a bath towel dries you off faster than a bed sheet would. Pack that weave into a wiping rag and you get a cloth that soaks up more per wipe and holds together under some real pressure.

Where these rags earn their keep

Coloured towel rags turn up wherever a job needs serious absorbency.
Contract cleaning rounds
Concrete pours and finishing

Glass and window cleaning

Mechanical workshops
Car pre delivery detailing
Manufacturing floors
General trade and site work
Concrete crews use them to wipe down tools and clean up after a pour. Cleaners lean on them for glass because the loop weave picks up moisture without leaving streaks behind. Mechanics keep a stack nearby for wiping down engines and mopping up oil, and car yards use them for a final wipe over before a vehicle goes out the door.

Who reaches for coloured towel rags first

Looking after your coloured towel rags

Worth knowing

Most businesses just run coloured towel rags through a regular washing machine between uses. For lighter jobs, a rinse in the sink with a bit of liquid soap is often enough. If a batch has picked up stains that need more than a normal wash, an occasional bleach soak helps disinfect them for the next job. If a rag ends up soaked in something genuinely harmful, that one’s a write off rather than something to wash back into rotation.

Built to grab onto liquid fast

Coloured towel rags are one of the more absorbent cloths in our range, and the extra weight in the weave means one rag usually goes further than a lighter cotton equivalent. Spills on a workshop floor, water and slurry after a concrete pour, oil around machinery, all of it gets soaked up quickly instead of smeared around. When a cloth is already heavy with liquid, the loop weave keeps holding on instead of dripping straight back out.

Gentle enough for glass, tough enough for the workshop

It might seem odd that the same rag turns up in both a concrete yard and a glass cleaner’s kit, but the loop weave explains it. Those loops lift dust and moisture off glass without dragging grit across the surface, which is why window cleaners keep a stack in the van alongside their squeegees.
The same rag holds up fine against grease and dirt around a mechanical workshop or car yard, so most businesses only need to stock one type of rag for a few different jobs.

Coloured Towel Rags vs Sam's other grades

Most buyers are choosing between a few grades. Here’s how coloured towel rags stack up against the others.

What happens before a bag reaches you

Every batch of coloured towel rags runs through our sorting facility before it’s bagged.
01 · SORT

Towels checked

Bath towels, bath mats and other terry cotton pieces are sorted from incoming stock.
02 · STRIP

Trims removed

Buttons, zips and other hard trims are taken off wherever we can manage it.
03 · CUT

Cut to size

What’s left is cut into workshop ready rags and bagged up at 15kg.
Because each rag is heavier and holds more liquid, most businesses get through fewer of them per job than they would with a lighter cotton rag. If coloured towel is new to your business, start with one 15kg bag and see how long it lasts before setting up a standing order. A lot of our customers run it alongside a fleecy or hospital blanket grade for the heaviest oil and grease jobs, keeping coloured towel for glass, general spills and everyday wiping.

Why buy from Sam's

Since 1980

We have been cutting rags for Australian trades since 1980, long enough to know which weave holds up on which job.

Recycled through charities

Our towelling comes in through Australian charity partners, so every bag diverts textiles from landfill and puts money back into their work.

Cut for the job

Hard trims come off and every piece is cut down to a size that suits a bucket or a tool belt before it reaches the bag.

Honest grade advice

Tell us what you are cleaning and we will point you at the grade that handles it, even when that means a cheaper bag.

Fast Sydney delivery

Orders leave our Ingleburn warehouse fast for Sydney customers, and we arrange interstate freight when you need it.

Bulk that scales

Start with one bag, move to pallet quantities or a repeating weekly drop whenever your usage climbs.
Cleaning crews, concreters and workshops have been buying their towelling off us for decades. Talk to our team about how many bags a week your site actually gets through and we will put a supply arrangement together around it.

Frequently asked questions

What are coloured towel rags made from?

They're cut from recycled bath towels, bath mats and other terry cotton. We sort the pieces, remove hard trims where possible, then cut them into workshop ready rags.

How absorbent are they compared to a standard cotton rag?

More absorbent. The loop weave in terry towelling holds onto liquid better than a flat cotton weave, so each rag tends to go further.

Do you supply coloured towel rags in bulk for businesses?

Yes, we supply cleaners, concrete crews, mechanical workshops and other trades with regular bulk orders. Get in touch with our team to set up ongoing supply.

Are coloured towel rags good for cleaning glass?

Yes. The loop weave lifts moisture and dust off glass without dragging grit across the surface, which is why a lot of window cleaners keep a stack on hand.

Do you remove buttons and zips from the rags?

We remove buttons, zips and other hard trims wherever we can during sorting, so the rags are safer and ready to use straight away.
